Next Steps Progression

Next Steps Progression

Have you considered what your plans are for next academic year? It may seem early, but with the UCAS deadline of 15th January (2016) fast approaching, it is time to start thinking about it. But don’t worry-we are here to help you with Next Steps Progression advice.

What is Next Steps Progression?
Next Steps Progression is how CUC helps you to make a decision that is right for you. Academic staff and the registry & admissions team will work with you to discuss your options and assist you in making an application (if necessary). Information seminars and UCAS workshops will also be available so you can find out more about CUC’s degree programmes and application processes.

What options are available to me?
As an Access to HE or Foundation Year student, you are guaranteed a place on one of our degree programmes if you successfully pass your course. You are also eligible to progress onto degree programmes outside of CUC. However, this is not guaranteed and is subject to application. The below diagram should help make things clearer for you!

Progression Route

Foundation Year Funding
If you began your course this year (2015-2016) then you will affected by the changes in funding regulations for foundation year courses. Currently, foundation year courses are fully funded by Student Finance England as it is an integral stage 0 of our 3 or 4 year degree programmes. It is not a stand-alone 1 year course. If you do wish to leave CUC once you have successfully completed your foundation year  to study at an institution outside of the Coventry University group, we cannot guarantee that you will receive funding for your whole course (including the foundation year) and you will become liable for the foundation year fee if Student Finance retract the funding.

Returning Students
If you are already on a degree programme at CUC it is important that you let us know you are continuing your studies onto the next stage.

What do I do now?
During the week commencing 23rd November your tutors will distribute the Next Steps Progression form to complete. Please complete this in full and return to them on the day.

If you are a Foundation Year or returning student continuing your studies at CUC, this is all you need to do. Your Next Steps Progression form will be processed and you will receive an offer letter from the registry and admissions team.

If you are an Access to HE student, you will also need to complete an application form via UCAS. More information on how to do this can be found online via the UCAS website.

All students wishing to progress their studies outside of CUC will also need to complete an application form via UCAS.

Events
There will be events running to help you make a decision, such as information seminars and drop in sessions. Advice and support on completing UCAS applications will also be available to all students. More information on these events will be made available soon.

Please keep an eye on Moodle and our Facebook and Twitter pages for more information.
