Music Tech BSc Now Offered in Hong Kong

The BSc (Hons) Music Technology award has been approved by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications (HKCAAVQ) to be delivered as a final year top-up degree by SHAPE at Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI) from September this year.
The two-day approval event was a rigorous process chaired by an Australian Professor, formerly head of visual, media and performing art at Deakin University and Deputy Vice Chancellor of Swinburn University.
The panel also included three music specialists – two academics, an Associate Professor of musicology from Falmouth and head of academic studies in theatre and entertainment arts at Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and an industry specialist, a Swedish composer with a music and audio production company in Hong Kong.
There were no conditions and the panel highly commended the documentation and the commitment and enthusiasm shown by both teams.
This result marks the faculty’s first top-up programme with this strategic partner. Offering the only degree in music technology in Hong Kong, the faculty can look forward to an enhanced reputation in the region and to further opportunities of collaboration, both through additional programmes and through creative arts and technology projects and research.
