Super Bowl 101

Warm up those vocal chords and stretch your waistbands as current champions Seattle Seahawks are back to defend their title against the New England Patriots this Sunday to mark one of the greatest sporting events of the year-The Super Bowl.

Huddle your London Campus friends together and touchdown on a comfy spot to watch the game. If you really want to get a piece of the atmosphere many bars and pubs throughout London will kick off the game on big screens. Social are holding their annual charity fundraiser Super Bowl bash. With two floors of entertainment, including a live DJ, hot dog stand and of course the all-important game being played on screens across both floors, your £8 ticket fee will ensure a great night out and will also be helping 16 impoverished young people.

Whilst play might only last for 60 minutes, the game really lasts a few hours and doesn’t start until 11:30pm UK time! Prepare to break for the countless time-outs by munching your way through some American style snacks to get you into the early hours – Hot dogs, fries, pizza, dips and salty snacks are all acceptable. Alternatively, coin toss between Sticky Wings on Brick lane for an early tailgating session of fries and, you guessed it, American sized wings – or one of the many Five Guys restaurants throughout the city.

Let me hear your roar for the half time entertainment in the shape of Katy Perry. Unless you are a die-hard Katy Perry fan this is probably a little bit of a let-down compared to the talents of Beyonce, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, and Prince who have previously graced the Super Bowl stage. Nevertheless, it always makes for an interesting watch!

Will the New England Patriots need a Hail Mary? Or will the Seattle Seahawks need a comeback route?   Let us know who you’re supporting on Sunday and your thoughts on the game at #CovUniLondon.
