Light and fluffy, lemon and sugar, nutella (or no nutella for the crazy people)….yes, the official countdown to Easter is upon us. London doesn’t do things by halves and Shrove Tuesday (Pancake Day) is no egg-ception:
Get your frying pans at the ready people because our friends at Spitalfields Market are holding a Great Spitalfield Pancake day race. Teams of four can participate in this charity fundraiser for the London air ambulance, by donning fancy dress and flipping their pancakes the whole way to the finish line. First prize takes home the Winners Frying Pan; otherwise there are hot pancakes as a consolation treat for all participants…..egg-celent
If you’d like to see some politicians with egg on their face then head across to Victoria Tower Gardens for the annual Parliamentary Pancake race. Now in its 18th year, this is a fantastic opportunity to watch our MP’s, Lords and Lady’s wear funny white hats and make fools of themselves all in the name of charity.
For the less adventurous yolk (couldn’t help myself), why not grab a few of your Coventry University London Campus friends, and have a fun evening in making pancakes. Ingredients are fairly cheap and you can normally make a big batch to go around plenty of people….just agree on washing up duties before you begin!
