Staff from the School of Media & Performing Arts led the away day which forms part of School’s CPD offer to external businesses and organisations.

In collaboration with the Faculty of Business & Law, Grafton executives from branches all over the UK and the Ireland are on an intensive 2 day CU development programme, part of wider leadership development scheme, organized and executed by Coventry University. While they worked together on the programme, the team building day enables them to discover more about their colleagues whilst having fun!

‘Make Your Own TV Show’ provides a stimulating alternative to traditional team building activities, by providing a unique team experience through the different roles required to make a TV show from the programme presenters to the studio floor manager and camera operators.

Under the expert guidance of Journalism Lecturer Lisa Perry and Senior Skills Instructor Shaun Smith, Grafton executives had to quickly develop content for their show based on important areas of the business that they wanted to communicate.

Team members were offered the opportunity to undertake various roles including director, presenter roles, reporter and producer, giving everyone a chance to demonstrate their hidden talents to colleagues.

Set in Coventry University’s state-of-the-art TV Studio, the Grafton executives said they were surprised that they were able to produce a 10-minute show after coming in with a blank sheet of paper, but that the programme came together through working as a team.

They also said how much they had learned about each other and above all that it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience.
