Event: University of Oxford’s Professor Danny Dorling

Professor Danny Dorling from the University of Oxford will deliver a public lecture on the housing market and social inequality at the University on Friday 28 March 2014.

A renowned expert in the field, Danny’s work concerns issues of housing, health, employment, education and poverty. His numerous works include, The No-Nonsense Guide to EqualityThe Visualization of Social Spatial StructureThe Population of the UK,  Unequal HealthThe 32 StopPopulation Ten Billion and All that is Solid: the Great Housing Disaster.

Danny also helped to create the website www.worldmapper.org which shows who has most and least in the world and much of his work is available to view at www.dannydorling.org.

Speaking ahead of his public lecture Danny said:

Housing was at the heart of the financial collapse and we are still vulnerable and precariously reliant on the housing market. Tracing how we got to the crisis, and exploring housing as a prism through which class and wealth are seen, this talk seeks solutions to this inequality, and sees them in trust and transformation.

Professor Dorling’s lecture, which has been organised by the Centre for Social Relations, , will take place from 6pm  to 7.30pm at the TechnoCentre, Puma Way, CV1 2TT on Friday 28 March 2014. Admission is free and there is no need to book but please arrive promptly as seating is first come, first served.
