Monday mornings were made for good news

When you wake up to be greeted by the news that your university is now ranked 48th in the Complete University Guide of 2016, and is officially the top modern university in the list, your Monday suddenly becomes pretty decent.

Monday mornings are usually pretty naff, everyone’s fed up that the weekend is over and that work has started up again. The next five days seem endless, you’re just counting down to that Friday feeling aren’t you? Well, not if you’re a student of the Modern University of the Year!

That’s right, Coventry University is celebrating being ranked the leading modern university across all of the most recognised league tables. This includes The Guardian, The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide, as well as the National Student Survey and now the Complete University Guide. So it’s a huge thanks from us to you guys, you’re all golden…

But before we get too carried away with our success, let’s just explain what the Complete University Guide rankings are based on, just so you know that they mean business. They’re measured on student satisfaction, and the spending on student facilities and graduate prospects. The rankings are the first to account for the findings gathered in the Research Excellence Framework (REF) carried out by the Government. REF aims to assess research quality across UK universities, and Coventry University excelled…

As well as being pretty awesome all round, Coventry University also has some gems that have helped elevate it to the current position within the rankings. The university ranks fifth in the country for its courses in the food science category, is in the top 20 for art and design and 15th for buildings, 16th for physiotherapy and 18th for marketing and hospitality. Leisure, recreation & tourism also comes in 14th

I know, I know that was an exhaustive list but when you’re an accomplished university like we are, you’ve got to continue adding strings to your bow, especially when you’re receiving accolades here, there and everywhere. To celebrate the momentous occasion the universities Vice-Chancellor John Latham said…

“It’s fantastic news that the first of the major UK league tables has brought a further boost to Coventry University to maintain our upward momentum. Our staff should be proud that their continued efforts and excellence is being reflected in the national rankings in this way.”

It doesn’t stop there either; the Complete University Guide 2016 announcement comes after Coventry University was awarded the Queen’s Award for Enterprise, awarded to the University for its international growth over the past six years. So this Monday hasn’t been the depressing day it started out to be, we don’t know what our next accolade will be, but one thing we do know is…

There will be more.
