Music to Get You Through the Week #24

Spring is on its way. The spring should be back in your step! No? Well, let us help with some audible outputs.

February was tough but the darkness is fading. Sunlight’s parents have gotten more lenient as they extend his curfew more and more lately. As the trees flourish, so does the 2016’s music offering so here’s a collection to get you through the week.

MONDAY

FKA Twigs – Good to Love

FKA Twigs is one of Britain’s most creative music artists right now. She has the ability to craft her voice in a way most can’t and doesn’t sound like anyone else – a feat harder and harder to achieve these days. You got to love Good to Love.

TUESDAY

 Brian Fallon – Nobody Wins

The Gaslight Anthem may be on hiatus but fans can’t be too sad when lead singer, Brian Fallon is bringing out songs like this. Nobody Wins is the second single from his debut solo album, Painkillers, and shows that Fallon is back to his roots. He conjures images of star struck Americana effortlessly to spread bluesy, feel-good vibes all over this one. Painkillers is out March 11th and Brian Fallon tours the UK in April.

WEDNESDAY

Chance The Rapper – Somewhere in Paradise feat. Jeremih & R. Kelly

A joyous anthem, the uniquely voiced Chance the Rapper brings his signature style that’s made him a buzz to Somewhere in Paradise. A fan favourite, he continues to deliver, i.e. writing and producing the most streamed track Waves from Kanye’s most recent record The Life of Pablo. He’s an exceptional talent, and proves so on this.

THURSDAY

Deftones – Prayers/Triangles

Deftones have had a hard few years since their last album was released, having to deal with the death of bassist, Chi Cheng. However, their first offering from their new album, Gore, informs us that they haven’t lost a step. Prayers/Triangles is another slice of dreamy alt. metal that takes you on a journey of juxtaposing guitars, pounding drums and Chino Moreno’s earth-shattering vocal range. Gore is released April 8th.

FRIDAY

Kendrick Lamar – Untitled 2 [untitled 08 | 09.06.2014.]

The most nominated 2016 Grammy artist with arguably album of the year last year, King Kenny. Since 2014, Kendrick has been dropping untitled tracks during live performances, screenshotting ‘now’ when he did. However today (March 4th 2016), he just Beyonce’d an entire album – ‘untitled unmastered.’ – no warning. Watch him exhibit who he is and what he does best.

SATURDAY

Mr. Fingers – Qwazars

Larry Heard has returned to his alias, Mr Fingers, to drop another techno-fused, house jam. Taken from his new four track E.P, Outer Acid, Qwazars delivers a piercingly chilled beat that sends you to another galaxy with it’s sci-fi infused samples. Try your best not to nod your head to this one.

SUNDAY

Oneohtrix Point Never – I Bite Through

Bizarro electronica virtuoso Oneohtrix Point Never ‘cybercises’ sounds you won’t have heard before. His album Garden of Delete boasts chaotic compositions and erratic changes throughout individual songs and I Bite Through is no exception. The glitchy effects throughout create something special and something very different.

Brought to you by Ryan & Ben.
