Guest Blog: How To Finance Your Masters

Today Krija takes over UnCOVered to give our readers some ideas on funding that masters degree. Take it away Krija!

What I did…

Progressing to a masters degree to further my career and put myself ahead of the competition with others in the scientific field, simply seemed like the best thing I could have done after my undergraduate degree. But naturally, as an individual supporting myself, it came with a great deal of apprehensiveness and concern over how I’d be able to manage my finances whilst continuing to perform to the standard I aimed for during my masters.

Thankfully, Coventry University were offering the opportunity to apply for Masters Scholarship of up to £10,000 during the year I commenced my MSc (2015). Such an amount not only covered my tuition fees, but I also had a sum remaining to put towards living fees. So keep your eyes peeled for further funding opportunities offered to high achievers!

Being given such a scholarship not only enabled me to comfortably complete my masters, but it took a huge burden off my shoulders when it came to worrying about financing accommodation and living. Even more so, the university took care of all the details associated with the scholarship i.e. ensuring the balance was transferred on time over the two semesters for the tuition fees, so all I had to do was accept my offer and focus on study! Quite simply, I wouldn’t have been able to commence let alone complete my MSc had it not been for the scholarship and to compliment it even further, I was also eligible for the further £500 alumni discount, providing me with a large sum remaining towards my living costs. So in essence, I owe my opportunity to hold an MSc to my name to Coventry University and their generosity in providing the scholarship.
