Hear how one Nigerian student, Adaugo Trinitas Onyebuchi feels about his experience at Coventry University:
I have chosen to study MSc Oil & Gas Management at Coventry University because it is a distinguished university, which in addition to the degree that is offered the University, also provides opportunities to acquire additional qualifications, gain international work experience and obtain skills required for a successful career.
The opportunity to undertake UK work experience did influence me when choosing a University to study at. I chose Coventry University because they offer work experience which has practical experience which cannot be adequately delivered in class rooms or through lectures and it prepares one for a future career.
My work experience was with Flourish partnership UK. My responsibility was to review fuel poverty strategies and actions plans for social housing providers in Leicestershire and East Midlands, through thorough analysis of the actions plans and strategies in place.
The experience has enhanced my communication, networking and management skills, I related with professionals on the UNEP project, met diverse individuals during the UNEP-SSC expo and managed my time adequately in delivering results before set deadlines.
During my time at university I took part in the Global Leadership Programme. Through the GLP activities I have gained information on interviews and job applications, learnt the appropriate communication and presentation styles, learnt French and about new cultures. I also visited India through the GLP programme and it proved to be a remarkable experience.
My future plans include building a career in environmental conversation and sustainable development. Through the UK work experience I have acquired comprehensive knowledge in this sector. In addition the experience has given me an added advantage in the job market and opened me up to the world of opportunities that awaits me in the environmental sector
