JLR’s huge expansion plans in Coventry

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) and Coventry City Council have announced plans to consult on an expansion of JLR’s research and development centre in the Whitley area of the city.

Confirmation of the ambitious project, estimated to be costing around £500million, will see JLR situated on half of a 60-acre site south of the A45.  The future growth of JLR is expected to create up to 6,000 new jobs, establishing Coventry as its key global research and development hub and confirms Coventry’s role at the heart of automotive innovation, growth and success.

Jaguar Land Rover will carry out public consultation on the scheme between January 21st  and 23rd. The local people of Coventry will also be able to have their say on the planning application when it is submitted.

The plans are expected to take 18 months to deliver and it is expected that the mass growth will enable people from across the world to take up jobs here in Coventry and will inspire the futures graduates of Coventry University (CU) to work with a truly global company here in Coventry.
