New Community Based Interventions Targeting FGM

On this International Day of Zero tolerance on Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), the REPLACE2 project announces the start of two new community based interventions targeting FGM in Spain and Portugal.

The interventions use the novel REPLACE2 behaviour change approach designed to directly target enhancing behaviours aimed at the goal of ending FGM. Working with the community, our partners in Barcelona and Lisbon are enhancing the opportunities, capabilities and motivation of community members to communicate with one another about wanting FGM to end.

These exciting developments follow the successful delivery of interventions in the Netherlands in Qu’ranic school settings and there are forthcoming interventions planned in London and Palermo in Sicily applying the same approach.

Today the 6th February is the UN’s International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation. (FGM)
