Professor Harris Beider of the Centre for Social Relations has been appointed to Columbia University, New York City as a Visiting Professor in the School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA).
Professor Beider will be at SIPA during the spring term, from January 1 to May 31 2014. He will teach graduate courses on Urban Policy and Politics and Comparative Race, Politics and Public Policy, as well as undertaking research and writing and consolidating working relationships with Columbia faculty and academic and policy colleagues across the States. Though Professor Beider will be based in New York he will continue to engage and influence the wider research agenda and projects in Coventry including his role as part of the leadership team in the Trust, Transformation and Peace University Research Centre.
Professor Beider is noted for his research into community cohesion, identity and politics– particularly from white-working class perspectives.
