Accommodation

Accommodation: Confirming your new home!

So you’re coming to Coventry University, congratulations! But wait, where will you sleep..?!

Whatever your accommodation situation, we know what you need to do next!

1. You have an accommodation offer:

Read the offer e-mail carefully! This may be a given, but it’s terribly easy to misread things or make mistakes when you’re excited or nervous, so look through it and make sure you understand what you need to do. The email will give details about what you need to do next, and reminds you that you only have one day to accept an offer of accommodation.

This is where things get slightly more complicated. If you don’t respond to the offer within one day, it will be withdrawn, and you won’t receive another offer. Equally, if you are unhappy with the choice of accommodation offered, you can reject it – but you won’t receive another offer, so don’t be hasty!

Assuming you’re happy (and don’t worry, you will enjoy living in halls wherever you end up – it’s great fun!), you then need to accept your offer, and in order to do so, you have to:

a) confirm that you’ve read the T&Cs
b) initiate a payment plan
c) pay your deposit of £300 – this may sound like a lot, but this will secure your place!

On completion of this, just sit back and wait to receive details about moving in! Hurrah!

2. You want to reject your accommodation offer:

Well, don’t worry – you won’t go homeless! There are options for private accommodation, and the University have their own letting agency to deal with this:

3. You haven’t applied for accommodation yet:

Whether this is because you’ve come through Clearing or because CU was your Insurance choice, you will be in a similar boat. So applying for accommodation at this point will be a priority – the sooner the better! Don’t worry, it’s quite simple, you will need to apply through the University website. If you  receive an accommodation offer back, it’s then a case of following the email instructions (above). Happy days!

On the (very) rare occasion that you either don’t get an offer of accommodation or you choose to reject the offer you’ve been given, there are still other options. The University will help you personally with this, so you don’t have to worry. Instead, start planning your trip to Ikea!
