Are You Ready for Valentine’s Day?

Valentine’s Day is fast approaching but have you got everything ready for the special day? We’ve got the low-down on how you can spend February 14th and reveal unique gift ideas for your other half on a budget – after all, you don’t want to become a Valentine’s Day legend for the wrong reasons!

Unique Valentine’s Day Gift Ideas

Forget cliché presents like roses and perfume, show your partner you can think outside the box with a unique Valentine’s Day gift that’s sure to put you in their good books.

DIY love advent calendar card

I always think the most thoughtful card or gift is something that is made. This shows you’ve put time and effort in.

Why not make a ‘5 Things I Love About You’ advent calendar? All you need is coloured card, a red pen, a red felt, acrylic paint, dish soap and your imagination! With your red felt draw 5 hearts on your card, mix 1 tablespoon of dish soap with 1 tablespoon of acrylic paint, write your 5 reasons why you love them so very much in the hearts and then paint over the top. Give this to them tomorrow and you’re sure to score brownie points!

DIY Valentine’s Day Wall Art

All you need for this is a square canvas, pre-made flowers, 2 squares of scrapbook paper, glue dots and either a heart template or if you’re quite creative – then you can draw the heart yourself.

Cut a square from your scrapbook paper, print your template and staple it on one of the scrapbook paper squares, cut the paper heart out using the template, attach the other scrapbook paper to your canvas – glue this on, attach the heart to the canvas with glue dots, place the flowers on the heart using glue dots – then wrap this up and give it to your partner.

Things to do on Valentine’s Day

These ideas are thoughtful yet inexpensive.

Cook, cook and cook some more!

This one’s easy. Cook a 3-course meal, you can get so many recipes online that you’ll be spoilt for choice. Choose starters, mains and desserts that you know your partner will enjoy. Here are a few recipes you may both enjoy; starter – creamy smoked salmon, leek & potato soup, main – grilled lobster, dessert – chocolate truffle.

A pamper day

Give him or her a massage, after all everyone needs to destress now and again. Or go the full works with a whole pamper day – a manicure, pedicure, massage and finish off with a facial – don’t forget to use candles to really set the scene. This will definitely get you in their good books.

Relive your first date

This one’s usually a winner if you’ve been together for quite some time. Relive your first ever date (unless it was a complete disaster). Give yourselves those butterflies all over again.

We’d love to see what gifts you make so feel free to share with us below, or on our Facebook or Instagram pages and let us know how your day went – whether it’s your first date or you’ve been together for a while.
