North Bay – Scarborough
Dexter’s Surf Shop
Found nestled between the ice cream shops on North Bay is the excellent Dexter’s Surf Shop. The staff are very friendly and you can bag yourself a 2 hour group surf lesson for only £28. Plus, if you enjoy your time on the waves you can continue your surf hire for the rest of the day for only £15!
South Bay – Scarborough
Fluid Concept
Located next to the Spa is Fluid Concept and within it, Scarborough’s Surf School. Here you can choose your lesson, from a 1-on-1 beginners lesson costing £50, or group lessons (7+) costing as little as £18pp
Cayton Bay
Secret Spot
Nestled away in Cayton is Secret Spot surf shop. They have a range of classes and equipment available, with a beginner group surf lesson costing £35 for two hours.
Being only 4 miles from Scarborough town centre, it is perfect for someone wanting to try a new sport and a new beach.
We might not be able to guarantee tropical weather, like you might find if you were surfing in Australia or Bali… but, all surf schools mentioned do include wet suit rental so you shouldn’t feel the cold too much. Surfing is a great way to keep fit and enjoy our beautiful coast.
