Places to take the parents in Scarborough

We’ve all been there, its minutes until your parents arrive to have a look at your swanky new uni life, and you have no idea where to take them. Mum wants to go somewhere nice, and for some reason you don’t think she’ll like your favourite bar that offers 3 for £5 Jagerbombs every Saturday.

Greensmiths & Thackwray

If coffee and cake is their thing, head straight to Greensmith’s for some of the best loose-leaf tea and ground coffee around. Plus, it’s next door to M&S if your parents fancy treating you to some fancy freezer food.

Bar Street

For an array of quirky, independent shops which your mum will love, head down to Bar Street in Scarborough’s town centre. It’s our very own Diagon alley! Here, you’ll find everything from chocolate frogs to Hogwarts trunks (thank you, The Amber Room) so an easy way to keep them entertained!

Peasholm Park

To give your mum a slight bit of hope that you don’t spend all your free time wrapped in your duvet, binge watching Netflix, perhaps take her to the park? With its relaxing lake and rowing boats, they’re bound to think that you’ve cracked this maturity lark and are finally ‘at one with nature’.

Blue Crush

Free food. This is the main reason why any student looks forward to their folks coming down and don’t you deny it. Blue Crush is perfect as it showcases the beautiful Scarborough seafront, but from the comfort of a warm bar (so that pesky north wind is nothing to worry about). Fish. Chips. Beer. Done.

Anton’s

If it’s a special occasion, finished first year, graduation or your dad just wants to splash the cash. Head down to Anton’s for some of the nicest food South Bay has to offer. Opposite the beach and with a fabulous bar and grill menu – there is something for everyone (and tastes even better if they’re paying!).

And after all that, you’ll have shown them how amazing living in Scarborough is and hopefully you will have convinced them that you’ve got this adultin’ lark nailed down.
