Top 5 Netflix series to take your mind off the pressures of uni life

During your time at uni you might find that every now and again you need to kick back, relax and unwind with some quality me time. Now there are many ways you can do this, but one of the most popular (and possibly the cheapest) is to grab your laptop, a bag of popcorn and binge watch some quality TV.

Now we know you’re all busy folk, so in order to make sure you don’t waste your time investing several hours into what turn out to be one massive disappointment we’ve put forward our top 5 Netflix TV series.

Breaking Bad
It’s safe to assume that if you have access to the internet you’ve heard of Breaking Bad, if not where have you been for the past 5-6 years? When 50 year old high school teacher Walter White is diagnosed with cancer he decides he needs to make as much money as possible, so he can provide for his family should the worst happen.. sounds noble, right? What we didn’t mention was the fact he intends to do this by teaming up with former student Jessie Pinkman and manufacturing or “cooking” a class A substance. It’ll only take you a few episodes to fall in love with these characters and become infatuated with the Breaking Bad world. Simply put this is one the finest TV shows ever made.

American Horror Story
Are you a fan of the horror genre? If so, you’ll probably already know that not many horror TV series exist. Fear no more (bad pun intended), American Horror Story is a genuinely scary, interesting, multi-layered piece of television, which prays on your fears to deliver a frightfully entertaining piece of television. For added effect, we recommend turning the sound up and watching this one in the dark.

Narcos
Not everyone may have heard of this entry to our list, mainly because it’s the newest entry (airing August 2015) but also because it’s a Netflix original, meaning it won’t have featured offline. Narcos focuses on drug kingpin Pablo Escobar and the Medellin Cartel. Whilst this might not seem like everyone’s cup of tea, the character portrayal, high production value and the fact that what you’re watching actually happened, makes this Netflix original a viable option for your next series. Warning – this show is so addictive it should come with a health warning.

Community will have you in tears (with laughter of course). A small group of misfit students get together and bond during a Spanish study group. Orange Is The New Black

Now, you’re probably wondering why our top 5 list contains 6 TV programmes, well to put it bluntly the Discovered team couldn’t agree on a top 5, so we’ve done a top 6! The last entry in our list took Netflix by storm. The comedy-drama follows Piper Chapman a 30 something New Yorker who is sentenced to 15 months in Litchfield Penitentiary… what subsequently follows is a delightful, intriguing and sometimes heart breaking tale. Suspense, drama, comedy, this programme has it all.
