Experts from academia, government and industry came together in January 2014 to discuss the future of UK railway safety. The event was hosted by Coventry University’s KEEP SAFE project, which is taking a closer look at how the UK Rail sector uses data for design and operational safety.
The selective event brought together senior and technical safety engineers from Network Rail, Transport for London, London Underground, Yeltech Ltd., Office of Rail Regulation, Rail Safety and Standards Board, TRE Rail, and TIBCO.
Professor Don Harris will be giving one of the keynote addresses at the First South African Symposium on Aviation Human Factors in Johannesburg, 28-30 January.
Don’s address will be entitled ‘Promoting distributed cognition on the flight deck’ in which he will describe new concepts for integrating flight deck design with Crew Resource Management activities to provide a more holistic approach to promoting safety and efficiency.
Dr. Siraj Ahmed Shaikh is a Reader in Cyber Security in the Faculty of Engineering and Computing at Coventry University. He leads the Digital Security and Forensics (SaFe) Group. Siraj has been involved in researching large-scale distributed secure systems for over thirteen years.
