Coventry University ‘#HideAndSpeak’ competition
Terms & Conditions
1) This competition is run by the Marketing and Communications Department at Coventry University, Priory Street, Coventry, CV1 5FB (“the University”).
2) This competition is only open to current University students residing in Great Britain and are 18 years of age and above. Residents of all other countries as well as residents of the Channel Islands, Isle of Man, Northern Ireland and all University employees are excluded from this competition. The University reserves the right to require entrants to provide proof of identity and age.
3) All official information detailing how to enter this competition forms part of these terms and conditions. It is a condition of entry that the entrant agrees to abide by these terms and conditions.
4) Submission of an entry will be taken to mean acceptance of these terms and conditions.
5) Entrants should submit a picture or a video of themselves. The entrant must take an image or a video with a speech bubble which are hidden around the main campus. This can be submitted by uploading the image to Twitter or Instagram directly using the hashtag #HideAndSpeak. The social media team will record the entries and a winner will be chosen at random. The University regrets that it is unable to accept entries via any other method.
6) Entrant’s photos generated by any means other than Twitter or Instagram are not permitted.
7) Any number of entries may be made.
8) Entries may be made from 0900 on 19th September 2015 on Twitter and Instagram using #HideAndSpeak. All entries must be received before 1700 on 9th October 2015.
9) All entries are free-of-charge.
10) The competition will close on at 1700 on 9th October 2015 and the winners will be notified on 12th October 2015. Winners will be announced through the Coventry University social media channels on 13th October 2015.
11) Late, incomplete or corrupt entries will not be accepted. No responsibility can be accepted for entries lost, deleted, destroyed, or delayed; entries, transmissions prevented or adversely affected by line, server, computer or other equipment failure or congestion; software or other code failure, or any other technical failure; unavailability of any mobile, website or other service; malware or its affects; or force majeure. Proof of transmission will not be accepted as proof of receipt. Entries must not be sent through agencies or third parties (this provision will not prevent any person with a disability seeking assistance from a friend or relative to send in the photo).
12) The University cannot accept any responsibility for damage, loss, injury or disappointment suffered by any entrant entering the competition or as a result of winning the prize. Nothing in this clause 12 is intended to exclude liability on the part of the University that cannot be excluded at law, including but not limited to death or personal injury caused by a breach of these terms by the University, or by the University’s negligence.
13) Entrants must not use another person’s Twitter or Instagram password to enable entry to this competition.
14) Entrants must submit entries containing images of themselves only, and by entering this competition entrants hereby confirm that the images that they submit are of them. Entries must not contain images of anyone else. Any images with more than one person in the image will not be regarded as an entry into the competition.
15) Entrants do not have to agree to receive information from the University concerning education opportunities in order to enter this competition.
16) There will be two winners of the competition. The prize for each winner will be a Coventry University hoodie. There is no cash or other alternative to the prize stated and the prize is not transferable. In the event of the prizes being unavailable for any reason, the University reserves the right to offer an alternative prize of equal or greater value of its choosing.
17) The prize will be awarded to a winner selected at random from the recorded spreadsheet.
18) No images of nudity, violence, drugs, or other offensive material will be accepted and any such pictures will be deleted from the competition at the discretion of the Social Media Officer.
19) If either winner is disqualified for a material breach of these terms and conditions (as determined by the Social Media Officer at their absolute discretion) then a new winner will be selected at random from the recorded spreadsheet.
20) Each winner will be notified within 24 hours of the closing date of the competition. If for any reason it is not possible to contact the winner within 24 hours of the closing date of the competition, the University reserves the right to offer the prize to the next eligible entrant drawn at random by the University’s social media team.
21) The winners will be required to provide their name, address and contact details in order to distribute the prize, for publicity purposes mentioned below and to help ensure compliance with these terms and conditions.
22) Entrants’ names and images submitted may be published by the University, including but not limited to its website and social media pages such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. The winner’s photo and other details submitted will be retained by the University as long as is reasonably necessary for record purposes. By entering this competition you expressly agree that the information you provide can be used for the purposes of administering this competition and for record purposes and for use on the University’s social media platforms.
23) The University will not share your details with any third party.
24) By virtue of entering the competition the entrant understands and grants the University permission to use any entry throughout the world in all and any media, including in the University’s printed publications, presentations, promotional materials, in the advertising of the University’s goods or services or on the University’s website and social media platforms. In the event of any queries relating the information you provide, please contact Jord Muckley, Social Media Assistant at the University.
25) Upon submission to the competition the entrant grants, assigns and conveys to the University all right title and interest in the image and all other intellectual property, which forms part of the submission. The entrants irrevocably waive their moral rights in any work created or developed as part of the submission.
26) Current students who are attending Coventry University or one of it’s subsidiaries including Coventry University College and Coventry University London Campus, are free to enter the competition.
27) In the event of any dispute the decision of the Social Media Officer will be final.
28) English law applies to all aspects of the competition and the parties shall submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English Courts.
