More than 100 applications were received at the Centre for Global Engagement in September and October to join the successful Linguae Mundi Training Programme, where native speakers of any language can train to become tutors. Latvian, Swahili and Hindi were some of the 10-minute taster sessions that the candidates showcased as they went through the interview process to join the programme.
Around half of the applicants were accepted as trainees and are already more than half way through the 12-week course that will allow them to teach their respective languages from February. The training covers theoretical and practical aspects, finishing with six teaching sessions where they will be able to try their skills in front of their peers and in a real class situation. Some of the feedback received from the trainees includes “interesting topics and content”, “supportive teachers” and “student-centred activities and dynamics”. If you are interested teaching your language, the next opportunity is our Summer Tutor Training programme – we will be starting our selection process in early 2018. You can find more information here.
