This year, Coventry University marks 175 years of being an Institution. Over the years our institution name has had many changes, from our origins as Coventry School of Design in 1843 to Coventry University today; the fact remains that we will remain an institution of the city, for the city.
As of May 2018, we’re welcoming students, staff, alumni and everyone to join and get involved in with our celebrations. We will divulge into how industrialists and entrepreneurs founded the Institution and celebrate how that nature still stands today. We are able to witness how our heritage and legacy over the years inspires the work we produce today.
Our campus will be open for the public as they witness why Coventry University were rated ‘Gold’ for teaching and have climbed up in the league tables. We’ll have a look over our social and economic impact 175 years on, aiming to interest more people of Coventry to study, work or partner with us to help do something for our city.
We’re excited to showcase how students and staff have contributed to the rise of Coventry and discuss our plans to grow, give back and invest not just for UK City of Culture 2021, but for the years beyond.
Public city centre events will be held to exhibit how Coventry has inspired the University and how our students and staff are making a difference.
Keep an eye out for further information about public events and how to join in with our 175 year celebrations.
Coventry and proud since 1843.
