Rocketmaaan- we’ve got the song stuck in your head already, haven’t we? This is the story of Sir Elton John’s life, from his years as a musical prodigy, all the way through to his influential and enduring musical partnership with Bernie Taupin.
Aladdin
Starring Will Smith, Mena Massoud and Naomi Scott. Released on 24th May
Disney is bringing out some belters this year. A live-action retelling of Aladdin is bound to be one for the entire family to enjoy. Plus, with Will Smith as the beloved blue genie, we’re in for some laughs too.
Godzilla: king of the monsters
Starring Millie Bobby Brown. Released on 31st May
If you’re into your Sci-fi, this is not one to be missed this year. This film doesn’t just have the one monster, it’s filled to the brim with god-sized monsters that the unlucky crypto-zoological agency are attempting to face off. Oh, and Godzilla is facing his ultimate nemesis of course.
The Lion King
Starring Beyoncé, Seth Rogen and Donald Glover. Released on 19th July
Probably the most hyped sequel of the century. If you’ve been living under a rock, Disney are releasing a live-action remake to the 1994 classic that is The Lion King. With Beyoncé as Nala, it is sure to be one of the best films of the year- no pressure Disney.
It: Chapter two
Starring Bill Skarsgård and James McAvoy. Released on 6th September
He’s back, and no doubt he’s as scary as ever. The Losers Club have grown up and moved away, but an unfortunate phone call sees them return. If it’s anything like the first one, I’ll be watching this with my hands over my eyes.
Downton Abbey
Starring Michelle Dockery, Allen Leech and Dame Maggie Smith. Released on 13th September
High tea at the ready, Downton is back. All your favourite characters shall be returning so don’t get some serious FOMO, 13th September get yourself to Downton to see the drama unfold.
Star Wars: Episode IX
Starring Daisy Ridley, Mark Hamill and John Boyega. Released on 19th December
We’ve got quite a wait for this one… but it’ll be worth it. Lightsabers at the ready, it’s the conclusion to the Star Wars sequels.
