Self-conscious

On Monday evenings I take my youngest to athletics.  The first time we went I stood and watched.  It was cold, and not that interesting, and I thought of other things I would rather be doing.  The next time I took a book, but as she likes me to watch her I kept looking up, and lost my place!

Now I use the opportunity to exercise myself.  I walk around the field adjacent to the track.  I can see her engaging in her activities and I use the time to get fitter myself.  Win, win.  At first I was a bit self-conscious, and then I thought, if you can’t be comfortable doing exercise at as an adult at an activity designed to encourage children to get fit, where can you?  So I have got over it.  It might be a different thing when I start to jog, but I’ll cross that bridge when I get to it.
