What is Luxury?

Work from 2012 ID graduate Gang Jian Cui will feature in the upcoming exhibition What is Luxury? at the V&A. The exhibition “interrogates general ideas about luxury, its production and future. The relationship of luxury to change, context and conventions is scrutinised through historic objects and contemporary art and design.”

Gang’s project, The Rise of the Plasticsmith (completed during his MA at the Royal College of Art) “speculates on China’s post-industrial future, envisioning the rise of a new breed of post-industrial workers who will use plastic crafts to tell the glorious history of the industrial age.”
